I've been reading through a great little book entitled
Extending the Table: A World Community Cookbook, recommended by
Jonathan Reynolds, a professor of history at Northern Kentucky University. There's a great Swahili proverb found on page 119: "Knowledge is like a garden. If it is not cultivated, it cannot be harvested." One thing I love about Africa is the deep wisdom that resonates with and rises from the land. This proverb really gives one something to chew on. In addition to great recipies, the book has some great tidbits of wisdom (puns intended).
